In the spring of 2023, a spark of hope flickered across the United States as Robert F. Kennedy Jr. launched his presidential campaign. Kennedy’s voice resonated deeply with a diverse coalition of supporters, from people weary of the divisive trench warfare of modern politics, to those previously unengaged from the process, and parents heartbroken by the collateral damage of public health policies from the COVID pandemic. Others rallied around Kennedy’s call for an end to U.S. entanglement in foreign wars, while a growing number craved the nuance of long-format discussions on difficult topics, fed up with the shallow soundbites peddled by mainstream media.
