Beacon Project
Shine a light on what’s happening in your community
Empowering voters starts with information.
Only 22% of Americans report following local news closely
44% of Americans report getting local news from social media
Most local social media groups are not following announcements and public comment periods from local government. The average voter has no idea what changes are being decided in their municipality.
That’s where you can help
Get Informed:
Attend a local meeting and introduce yourself to other concerned residents. Keep each other updated on local issues, watch videos of meeting you can’t attend on your municipality’s website, or subscribe to your local paper and follow local announcements.
Spread the Word:
Join social media apps like Nextdoor and post information your neighbors care about
Join or create a Facebook group for your community and talk to your neighbors about local issues.
Post local issues on our social media or email us about them @connect.wtpppa.org
Join our Beacon Program and let your neighbors know what your local government is doing. For help getting started, fill out the contact form below and let us know you want to help empower your neighbors to take action to improve your community.
